VicSRC’s Congress is back and will be bigger than ever as we reach our 20th year of Victoria’s largest student voice event.
To celebrate, thanks to the Ross Trust, VicSRC Congress is hitting the road! We will run our 20th Congress in over five regions, meeting all Victorian secondary students where they’re at!
Congress is VicSRC's flagship student-led experience bringing together students from across Victoria to unpack ideas and solve issues in the education system. The voices of students at Congress shape VicSRC's focus into the future as we work together for all Victorian students to make the education system as strong, inclusive, and student centric as possible!
“VicSRC Congress is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and celebrating 20 years is a huge milestone for the student voice movement and Victorian education,” says VicSRC’s CEO, Julia Baron (she/her).
“This year, we are excited to bring Congress to everyone all over the state, from Geelong to Swan Hill. We can’t wait to hear directly from students what issues matter most to them”.

On the day, students will be in ‘action teams’ to work on four key student-decided policy areas. These are student health and wellbeing, inclusive education, definitions of success, and equitable access to education.
Kevin (he/him), last year's Congress MC and current VicSRC Student Executive Committee Co-chair cannot wait for our flagship event to begin after the success of last year.
"Congress was really inspiring, where I got to meet with so many students who were open to sharing their experiences and opinions of the education system."
VicSRC’s Melbourne Congress will open our state-wide celebrations on September 11, 2025, at Wurun Senior Campus. Over the next 12 months, VicSRC will then visit regions like East Gippsland, Geelong, Swan Hill and Wangaratta and bring Congress to everyone. Our state-wide tour will close out in Melbourne in September next year. A whole year of student voice!

All students who attend a Victorian secondary school are eligible for VicSRC Congress. A maximum of four students from each school are invited to attend, to ensure equitable access for students from all school sectors and regions.
Fatima (she/her), a 2025 VicSRC Student Executive Committee member has been attending Congress since she was 12, so this year’s Congress is extra special for her.
"VicSRC Congress is so important to me because it has been the only opportunity annually for me to so freely share my ideas about major issues in education, knowing that my voice is making a difference, without having to mask my perspectives, and being able to understand other’s ideas. I’m so proud by VicSRC’s results over my three years as a delegate to Congress and I look forward to its 20th anniversary this year as an Exec member”.

Due to last year’s overwhelming positive feedback, VicSRC will also be running a student voice professional development (PD) for teachers alongside every 20th anniversary Congress event. You will learn from our expert staff team about how you can support yourself, your students and your school to become champions of student voice.
Help shape policy and advocate for a better education system! Tickets for both Congress and our Teacher PD are on sale now.
Spots are limited, so get in quick to celebrate 20 years of stepping up and sparking change!
