The Executive Committee election is coordinated by two returning officers every year, who are current members of the Executive Committee.

VicSRC’s constitution has several quotas for the Executive Committee. This is to make sure that the Executive Committee is representative of as many students as possible. These quotas are regularly reviewed. They include:

  • at least five (5) Students who are schooled outside Greater Metropolitan Melbourne;

  • at least five (5) Students who are schooled within Greater Metropolitan Melbourne;

  • at least four (4) Students who identify as male;

  • at least four (4) Students who identify as female;

  • at least four (4) Students who identify as not cisgender;

  • at least two (2) Students who attend a Catholic school;

  • at least two (2) Students who attend an independent school;

  • at least two (2) Students who attend a Government school;

  • at most three (3) Students who are enrolled in year 11 at school; and

  • at most two (2) Students who attend the same school, including across campuses at a school with multiple campuses.

The returning officers can return a result where these quotas are not fully met if there are not enough candidates matching the quota criteria.

In addition to this, up to 10 current Student Representatives may continue on for a second term without renominating, through a process determined by the Student Executive Advisory Committee.

Vote counting for the Executive Committee election uses the Borda count method.
