Congress 2022

Congress 2022 happened in person on Friday 2 September.

Thanks to everyone who joined the VicSRC Student Executive Advisory Committee for the 17th Congress to pitch their education ideas, work in action teams to solve issues and join the roar of student voice.

My favourite part of Congress was meeting new people, hearing and sharing ideas and also learning about things that I can take back to my school to work on."

Congress priorities

At Congress, students pitch their big ideas for education and work in Action Teams to start creating plans to make these ideas happen. These plans are turned into full Action Plans by a working group of students after Congress to become VicSRC's advocacy platform for the next 12 months. VicSRC, led by the Student Executive Advisory Committee, then put these plans into action and advocate for the changes students ask for.

The top priorities from Congress 2022 are:

  • Trauma informed mental health training in schools

  • Electoral education

  • Stress free VCE

  • Student informed consent education

  • Neurodiversity in schools

  • School and sleep schedules

  • Free public transport for school students

  • Exploring different methods of learning

  • Localised Indigenous learning partnerships

  • Student-led mental health taskforce

The full 2023 Advocacy Platform will be launched at the Student Voice Extravaganza on Thursday 17 November 2022.
